Job Description
Whittier Seafood LLC seeks 175 Fish Processors for temporary, full-time, employment at its plant located at 375 East Whittier Street, Whittier, AK 99693. Contact information: 907-472-2000; officemgr@whittierseafood.com; https://www.whittierseafood.com/.

Job Duties: Fish unloading and separation; heading and gutting fish using industry standard equipment; cleaning and grading headed and gutted fish; loading headed and gutted fish onto freezer carts; and packaging frozen headed and gutted fish into shipping boxes. Duties also include cleaning and sanitizing the facility and processing equipment.

Requirements/Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age. Fish Processor will work one of two available shifts. Dayshift (8:00 am to 8:00 pm) or Nightshift (8:00 pm to 8:00 am). Approximately 7 days/week for up to 84 hours a week.

Pay: $12.36 per hour; overtime available at $18.54 per hour.The employer will use a single work week as its standard for computing wages due. Workers will be paid be at least every 2 weeks.The employer will make all deductions from the workers paycheck as required by law.

Anticipated start date: 04/1/2021. Anticipated end date: 09/30/2021.

Job Requirements: No minimum education, training, or experience required. On-the-job-training will be offered.

Board/Lodging: Optional dormitory style lodging is available with 3 meals daily and weekly laundry service for $10/day. If optional housing is elected, a refundable security room deposit of $100 is required and will be deducted from the workers paycheck. The employer will also deduct the $10/day cost of optional dormitory-style lodging and meals for workers who choose them from the workers paycheck.

Transportation: If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer will arrange and pay for transportation, and reimburse the worker for daily subsistence, from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or if the worker is dismissed early for any reason before the end of the period, the employer will provide or pay for the workers cost of return transportation and daily subsistence from the place of employment to the place from which the worker departed to work for employer, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a workers voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence reimbursement during inbound and outbound travel will be provided at a rate of at least $13.17 per day during travel to a maximum of $55.00 per day with receipts. The employer will reimburse the H-2B worker in the first work week with all visa, visa processing, border crossing and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker.

Tools & Supplies: The employer will pay for or provide to the worker, without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned, in accordance with 20 CFR 655.50(k).

3/4th Guarantee: Each worker is guaranteed employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays of each 12-week period of the total employment period.
